A Baby Turtle on the Move

Our little baby turtle was LOVING the ward Halloween party.

She was crawling everywhere! Under tables, chairs...she seriously was going crazy! And she would never look to see if we were close behind. It was nuts!

However, we did have a costume malfunction. I'd had velcro keeping the shell centered but didn't like how it was pulling on the pjs and I took it off. I regretted it. I didn't realize how much it was keeping the shell centered on her back. At home she wasn't crawling around as fast as at the ward party ha ha :) Oops! Oh well. Evie's mama just had to follow her around and help her out

Our favorite part was when a 2 year-old boy in our ward came running past Evie (who was busy crawling around), stopped, looked at his mom and cried, "A turtle! Hey Mom, look it's a little turtle!" Then he got down on his hands and knees just to look at Evangeline. So funny :) We love our cute little turtle!

Sneak Peek

So we had a dry run with our costume today at the playgroup Halloween party.

It still needs some tweaking, but here it is...

 Our little baby turtle :)

(my method of attachment needs some work)

It was a little top heavy so our friend Nicole had a good idea that I think we'll try.

I loved this picture but she was just moving too fast :(

Off to find trouble...

Thank goodness Evie's Auntie Tess believed that my homemade pattern was even a possibility or this costume wouldn't have happened. Talking with her gave me the confidence to actually go through with making it. She's seriously the best.
If you don't believe me, you should go look at her house. She did it all in three days. Three people! Three!

I love how the ruffle turned out. I thought it would make it look more like a girl turtle.
Very fancy, right?

This was definitely a labor of love. Especially for a baby Halloween costume. Hand-stitching and everything.

I'm going to try to get some better pictures. Evie was just too fast today!

And Miss Eden was nice enough to join us. This was the best picture I could get of the two of them together! They were too busy.

This morning the girls' were having a tough time, so I'm glad we were able to even make it :)

Two Little Pumpkins

We were able to go to the Pumpkin Festival in Half Moon Bay on Saturday. I think Evie's favorite part was the pumpkin patch there. Seriously, the best one ever!

Just by luck we went at the best time of day :)
Every time I look at these pictures,  I am just so glad we didn't go any earlier.

Jeff gets the Dad of the year by always being the one who explains everything to lil' Evangeline.
p.s.  I love this picture of them. Non-posed pics are the best.

Evie was wondering if all these pumpkins were hers to take home :)

And she loved touching all of them.

I loved the cute little red wagons!

"Ridin' up and down in my little red wagon..."

Jeff snapped this cute shot...
He is very creative and thankfully we had him there :)

Evangeline was so excited and she was showing off her "touchdown" trick :)

But this is my favorite shot EVER!

(Gasp!) "Look at all these pumpkins!"

This place seriously had it all. Even a teepee.

And the best part of all...
a treat from Grammy - two little pumpkins.
Just for Evie.

This is how we roll...

Eating should be fun...

And just a little bit messy...

Did I over do it with the blueberry oatmeal?

I knew it.
I'm a mess.
So embarrassing...

10 months older and wiser too...

Happy 10 months sweet baby girl!

She started having an afternoon snack this month and string cheese is her favorite!

She loves her best friend Eden so much and cries every time she has to go home.

When we say "Ta-dah" to her, she responds with a sweet sounding "dah!"
She loves to sing ("ahhhh") along with any music but especially the hymns at church.
On of our favorite moments this month was when Jeff and I heard Evie singing along with her Glo-worm in her car-seat (on pitch an everything!). So crazy!

She loves giving kisses, especially on noses.
When we ask her to kiss us, she does.
She still has the cutest belly laugh.

She still loves reading books and if we are busy, she is happy to sit and read the books by herself. Still turning the pages and everything by herself (she has been doing for 5 months now!)

And her favorite toy this month is definitely the bean bags Eden's mama made for her.
They are the perfect size for her tiny hands and she loves the sound they make when she throws them on the ground.

Oh Evie girl, where has this year gone!?
Good thing we've made the most of every minute.
Thank you for making this year the best year ever.

You make this world better every day!

And now Evie knows...

where apples come from...

We went to Apple Hill festival and who knew that on the West coast when you go apple pickin' it's 90 degrees outside. We had fun but I must admit I was a little disappointed at not being able to dress Evie in her apple pickin' outfit. And it was way too warm to enjoy warm apple cider and doughnuts, so we just drank cold cider instead :)

p.s. - this is my attempt to actually blog about the things we do with Evie and not just how cute she is ;)
