Here she comes...

...our crawler!

So on Saturday, July 14th Evie Mae surprised us all and as if by overnight, she suddenly had an interest in crawling. She started on her hands and knees and would scoot both knees at a time. Then we'd see her move one hand and one knee and the other hand and the other...well almost the other knee. Usually she'd face plant before she could move the other knee. Then for the next week she went back to her old tricks after she start crawling, which means she'd almost finish crawling and then decide instead of face planting to just dive for the toy or whatever it was she was trying to get.

But on July 23rd, she surprised us again and Jeff saw her crawl to a toy that morning. The rest of the day that girl was crawling everywhere and she's been crawling ever since! Especially after her BFF - Eden ;)

When we went to Utah (a month before), she started getting up onto her knees on her own. But when we came back, moved furniture around, and gave Evie her own room, we couldn't get her motivated to crawl again. She was perfectly content to be mobile rolling everywhere. And boy would she get everywhere! We were so shocked that she was so mobile without crawling. But she finally did it!

Three cheers for Evie! Hip Hip Hooray! Hip Hip Hooray! Hip Hip Hooray!

She's a crawler baby!

Over the mountain and through the woods...

to Grandmama's house and Natalie and Mikey's house we go.

Or I guess I should say went.
On Father's Day we were with Jeff's family.

Evie took to Jeff's cousin Aimee quite quickly.
And kept staring back at Papa Chuck.
Tried her best to last at the festivities but got just a little too tired.
Jeff's first Father's Day and a picture with all the other dads.
At Grandma Sally's Evie took her first kitchen sink baths. We've been tub people ourselves.
She was very intrigued by all the sink fixtures.

Loved the extra Daddy time on her vacation.
We showed her the duck pond at BYU.
And took her to find Daddy's signature in the Marriott Center.
(It's upside down and under her pink bow and in print)
Here she is with Daddy and the part of the basketball court that he signed.
We had to take two of these pictures because in this one if you look closely, Evangeline has wings :)

Evie Mae got to know Grandmama.
Stood at the same table other grandkids have used to learn to pull themselves up.
Evangeline met our good friends Sarah, Katie, and Joey.
Here she is taking a picture with their cute kids.
Sarah and Nick's cute Shelby is on the left, and Katie and Joey's adorable Jackson is on the right.
Evangeline was very interested in figuring Jackson out in these two pictures.
Seth (Shelby's brother) came to join the picture.
We are in the process of arranging Evie's future marriage to Seth ;)
If you met him you'd understand why. He is one cool kid.
Lucky for us Seth seemed to like Evangeline and even kissed her several times that night :)

Uncle Mike loved rubbing Evie's head.
And Evangeline really enjoyed her quality time with him.

Grandma Sally was very kind and gave Evie her first teddy bear.
Then we took the coverall pictures...
And we went back to BYU for a picture with the cougar since Evie had been given a cheerleading outfit and everything.
Then we went back to visit Natalie and Mikey, and Evie had more quality time with her cousins.
They took us around Salt Lake and we loved our trip to Red Butte Gardens.

Evangeline loves leaves and she touched almost every plant we walked by.
She was the most excited to see the ducks though since she loves watching animals.
Her legs were kicking like crazy while she watched the ducks on the lake.

It was so hot we tried to keep her in the stroller for most of our Utah trip.
But sometimes she just wanted to be held.
And she got to listen and dance to fun music at the SLC farmer's market.

Then we went to see a waterfall.
Evie was obviously very happy to see it :)

 Family pic!
We worked hard for that spot too. Who knew little girls get tons of professional pictures for baptisms now? We had to wait forever for the little 8 year olds to finish saying "cheese."

 Bonfire!

Evie entertained everyone with her mad skills.

And Daddy got some good giggles from Evie...

 until he walked away :(

The cutest part of this trip was all the cousin lovin' she was getting. But I've dumped enough pictures for one post, so I'll hold off on any cousin photo ops.

This trip was so fun and we were glad that the 12 hour drive was not as horrible as we thought it would be. It wasn't easy, but it was worth the drive.

The million dollar question...

So people keep asking us who Miss Evie Mae looks like...

Maybe you can be the judge.

Here is what Jeffrey looked like:

Hmmm...I wonder who Evie gets her crazy tongue from?

 And some of mine...

I feel like I see some of each of us.
Who knows?!

But we sure do think you're cute!

"The Coveralls" 27 years later

Jeffrey was one of the lucky grandkids that had his picture taken with his Papa Chuck's coveralls.
27 years later here they are again...
but with some pink flare :)
and some more of her crazy tongue of course!
These were bought in 1932 and are still around in 2012. Perfect condition.

And Papa even got to hold the little cutie.
